Only Child

I'm an only child, my mom had 4 brother's & sister's growing up & man the stories she has told me about.  So being a Only Child is defiantly different than growing up with sibling's.  My cousin's did live across the dirt road from me as I grew up.  But play with your cousin's is just not the same as having a brother or sister.

Of course yes as an only child my parents where able to give me more than if they would of had 2 kids or more.  But I don't think they spoiled me either.  Growing up as a only child I spent a lot of time outside playing with the dog's, cat's, swimming or in the woods.  There where so many times that I said I wish I wasn't an Only Child!

Getting older I even said that when I have a child of my own I will have two so that I don't have an only child either.  Of course that was before I meet my husband that has 8 brother's & sister's.  He said even with that many around he still felt like a only child & only wanted one child.  After much talking about it I decided maybe me growing up as an Only Child wasn't so bad after all.

So after having my son, which wasn't a great pregnancy.  I know women that have been worse off than I was, but it wasn't something I really wanted to do again.  Don't get me wrong the giving birth part was easy, the 9 months leading up to that point.  That was what was not so pleasant.  I decided that my new son would have to follow in my foot steps & become an Only Child also.

Of course he is spoiled in his own way's, nothing like mine where.  But he does love being a Only Child, I've never heard him once wish for a brother or sister.  I've even talked to him about it, he's like no way I'm good with being an Only Child.

  1. I see it as small or large family, each family is still just that. You and your husband have created your family as is fitting for you both! Your son is loved and happy and that is all that matters. Well done Amy!
